My first collage, and still one of my favourites. This has a heavy Japanese influence. I moved back home from Japan many years ago, but find it has affected my aesthetic and thinking. The circles with red squares remind me of tuna sushi rolls that I would often eat at hideaway little bars. The symbol "Fuku","福" means blessed, or happiness, and happens to be the first character of the first place I lived in Japan, "Fukui" or "福井市". Sold to Burlington, ON

UNDERLYING STRESS, 10" X 10", acrylic on canvas. I painted this on a feeling. I decided to use pink and yellow-orange to show happiness on the surface. The grid of dots represents organization. But perculating through the colours are jagged, confused lines the stress is coming through. The bottom left corner looks wounded
